Frequently Asked Questions about the Universal Pad Washer
- Can I download a copy of the instruction manual?
- Is the UPW compatible with my tool?
- The name says it all. The Universal Pad Washer is designed to work with most common types of buffers, polishers, and polishing tools available today. It is not designed to work with orbital sanders that have a dust collector. If you're not sure, feel free to call us at 1-866-592-5925, or email us at info@padwasher.com
- How well will the UPW clean the center of my pads?
- The Grit Guard® Extension features a domed shape and plugs-into the Grit Guard® Insert, thoroughly cleaning the center of the pad. The Grit Guard® Extension works on the same simple principal as an orange juice squeezer.
- What size pads can I use with the UPW?
- The UPW cleans all pad sizes from 2" - 10".
- Will The UPW work with Dual-Head Polishers, such as the Cyclo® Polisher?
- Yes, the UPW was designed with the Dual-Head or Twin-Head polisher in mind. In one of the Videos on the Home Page, we clean the pads on a Cyclo® Polisher.
- Does the UPW work with foam pads?
- Yes! The UPW works with all types of foam types, and foam shapes, including the waffle-weave, or waffle-iron cut, egg-carton shaped, and diamond cut shapes.
- So the UPW works with all foam pads, but does it damage them?
- If you operate your buffer or polisher on a very high speed setting and put excessive down force on your tool, you can damage your buffing pads. In the same manner that a rotary buffer can burn through paint, you can also burn up your pad by running it too fast and too hard in the UPW. All it takes is a little common sense to keep your pads in good shape.
- What other uses are there for the UPW?
- The UPW also doubles as a Grit Guard Washing System. Simply remove internals of the UPW, and place the Grit Guard Insert into the bottom of the bucket. The UPW also works great for tile grouting and wet sanding.
